I will soon be gone and past
Like dying leaves in the fall
Brief and short, not meant to last
When the distant voices call

Fresh, white roses on granite stone
The cold, carved sound of my name
A monument over the dust of my bone
When I return to from whence I came

All that we truly own is nothing
All must it one day be given back
There is no such thing as remaining
Even the mountains will splinter and crack

All the gold in the world is nothing worth
When it can't buy you one more breath
For deep in the shadows, I think I heard
That the price of life is death

Why... Why do I always end up writing poems about dying? Jesus, you guys must think I have a depression or something. XD

Anyways, I'm not completely satisfied with the first two lines of the last stanza, but overall I really like this poem. C:

Thanks, you spoil me rotten ;P
I totally forgot to thank you for the faves, btw.
Sadness emoticons are much fitting. :giggle: I have some poems in my notebook that I'm afraid to post because I'm gonna sound like a self-loathing neurotic or something. XD
